SPACE/PLACE/NON-PLACE
The yoga mat = space, where certain states are practiced

Where movement, attention, embodiment become possible

Immersion in altered states

A hospitable space for surrendering to happen

Phenomenon of surrender

The space which invites surrender

The repetition

The returning

The allowing

The permission

What remains

What does is highlight about space
A dialogue
Edward T Hall termed and categorised the following distances that commonly appear between people:

• Intimate distance for embracing, touching or whispering
Close phase – less than one inch (one to two cm)
Far phase – 6 to 18 inches (15 to 46 cm)

• Personal distance for interactions among good friends or family
Close phase – 1.5 to 2.5 feet (46 to 76 cm)
Far phase – 2.5 to 4 feet (76 to 122 cm)

• Social distance for interactions among acquaintances
Close phase – 4 to 7 feet (1.2 to 2.1 m)
Far phase – 7 to 12 feet (2.1 to 3.7 m)

• Public distance used for public speaking
Close phase – 12 to 25 feet (3.7 to 7.6 m)
Far phase – 25 feet (7.6 m) or more.

Intimate conversations at public distance

Public/Generic conversations at intimate/personal distance

During the experiment we also worked with clay, making figures, documenting live and creating landmarks of the conversation.
We exchanged the clay between us as part of the dialogue.

MAPPING

We did a scale of the table we worked around
We placed the clay objects that were made in the places which they were made in
We drew our journeys and mapped where particular conversations happened

REFLECTIONS

What is the impact that social distancing has had on our relations with others?

In what distance do we feel comfortable with having certain conversations?

What impact does this have on our experience of space?

What impact does this have on our experience of our embodiment?
